Reiki Level 1 is where you learn to work with energy with your own two hands, starting with yourself.
Over two days, in person, you receive your attunements, learn the hand positions, and practice until channeling Reiki stops feeling like a question and starts feeling like something you can do. You leave certified, with a daily practice you actually understand.
We teach it as a couple, in a small group, at our studio in Los Angeles. In person, hands-on, together for the whole weekend.

Who Level 1 is for
You do not need to be spiritual, sensitive, or sure of any of this to start. Some of the students this has changed the most arrived skeptical and worn out. Others came already deep in a practice. Our groups tend to hold that whole range, and the mix is part of what makes the weekend rich.
Level 1 tends to land for people who are:
- Wired but exhausted, and looking for something that works on the body, not just the mind
- Drawn to energy work but put off by how woo a lot of it sounds
- In a helping role already (nursing, therapy, teaching, parenting) and running low
- Curious whether they can actually feel this, and wanting to find out in person rather than from a video

Your teachers
We are Jaime and Yonatan Elkayam, a married couple who live and teach this work at our Los Angeles studio. Both of us are certified Reiki Master Teachers in the Usui lineage, six years each. We teach Level 1 together, so you get two ways of working, not one.
How the two days work
Day one: your first attunements and self-treatment
You receive your first Reiki attunements and, for most people, feel energy between your hands within the first hour. Most are surprised it is that tangible. You learn the hand positions for treating yourself, and you practice, on yourself, with us there to guide you.
Day two: certification and daily practice
You receive your remaining attunement, which is the piece that stays with you. We cover a daily practice you can actually keep, how to clear your own energy, and what to do when you feel off. You leave certified in Reiki Level 1, with your manual and every hand position written down.
After: using it in real life
This is the part that makes it stick. A five-minute reset between meetings. Self-Reiki before bed for better sleep. A way to come back to center in the middle of an ordinary hard day. You also get our student community, so you are not practicing alone.
What makes this one different
- In person, in our sanctuary. We teach this face to face because the experience is the point: hands-on practice, a group in the room, and a weekend stepped out of your usual rhythm. We both trained virtually ourselves and have real respect for how energy moves regardless of distance. This is simply the in-person version, for people who want it.
- Both of us teach. Jaime works intuitively and wide, Yonatan precise and narrow. You get two ways in and can find your own somewhere between them.
- Small group. Small enough that we actually watch you practice and correct you, rather than lecturing at a room.
- Deep work, in plain language. This is real healing, and it goes as deep as you are ready for. We just teach it without the jargon, so you leave with something you understand and can use, on the 405, before a hard meeting, in the middle of an ordinary day.

The things people actually worry about
"I'm too logical or skeptical for this."
Good. A lot of our students are engineers, nurses, and therapists who came in doubtful. You do not have to believe anything for the attunement to happen. You feel what you feel, and most people are surprised by how physical it is.
"I've tried energy healing before and didn't feel much."
Everyone feels it differently. Some get heat or tingling, some get a quiet drop into calm. Both are real. In the training you both give and receive, so you feel it from both sides in your own body.
"I don't have time for another practice."
Reiki is the opposite of another thing to keep up with. It is five minutes, it is portable, and once you have it you have it for life. Most people use it to get time back, not spend it.

Something you keep for life
Once you have Level 1, you have it. There is no expiry and no re-certifying. The attunements are permanent, and the practice is yours to use whenever you need it.

We keep the group small so everyone gets real attention and hands-on time. It is a training, not a lecture.

$550 for the full Level 1 certification. That includes two days of in-person training (12 hours), all four attunements and plenty of hands-on practice, your Reiki Level 1 manual, and lifetime access to our student community.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience?
None, of any kind. People come in at every level of experience and every point on their spiritual path, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. We find those mixed groups make for the richest discussion and practice.

How is this different from an online Reiki course?
Both are real, and we say that as two people who did our own training virtually. Energy moves regardless of distance, and online attunements work. What in-person adds is the experience of it: hands-on practice, the richness of learning alongside a group, and a weekend out of your usual rhythm in a space set aside for this. If that is how you like to learn, this is that.
Can I use Reiki on family and friends after Level 1?
Level 1 is about treating yourself. That is the foundation, and the most important healing you will do. People close to you often feel the difference in your presence anyway. Working on others formally is what Level 2 adds.
What's the next step after Level 1?
Level 2, when you are ready, teaches you to work on others, use the Reiki symbols, and send healing at a distance. Some students go on to Master training and teach. Each level is its own decision.
Is this connected to any religion?
No. Reiki is a Japanese energy practice that works alongside any faith, or none.
